UCAA and McGill alumni join each other at The Hague drink

As June was starting to peek around the corner, another UCAA drink was organized on a beautiful sunny day in The Hague, by regional representative Gergana Yancheva. It happened that the McGill The Netherlands alumni drink was occurring at the very same time and place. Gergana: “We ended up sharing a drink and discussing intercontinental alumni stuff.. :) It was fun!”

Great kicks and burgers at the World Cup Revisited 2012!

We wanted to reinstate the football tournament that was organized every year by SportsCo, back in the day. A sportive reason for alumni to come back to campus and enjoy some healthy competition. So on Saturday the 23rd of June the freshly paved pitch of UC campus was stepped upon by ‘old’ feet. Eight teams signed up and competed for the big (it was pretty big!) prize. At the end of the day, the BBQ was started and lots of burgers were turned. And the winner of the big final was…. the Cookie Crumblers! Congrats once again. And a big thank you to the alumni who organized this big event: Jeroen, Guillaume, Laurens, and Roeland!

Check out the video for an impression of this wonderful day!

Food Trippin’

Last night the UCAA represented at UCU CultureCo’s annual Food Trippin’. The event, aimed at promoting the cultural diversity on campus by sharing different regions’ traditional food at a massive potluck dinner, was well attended by both students and a few alumni. Those present were able to sample delicious dishes native to everywhere from Spain, India, Hungary, Poland, Hong Kong, the Netherlands, Turkey, and elsewhere. Our very own Sarah Carmichael (’06) prepared a batch of her aunt Janet’s yummy Scots Pancakes, while Roeland van Beek (’11) and Kiran Coleman (’05) took a cue from TalkingPost‘s new cooking column by Somaye Dehban (’07) and prepared an incredibly tasty Ab Gousht from Iran (try the recipe out for yourself here!).

Who were there at the Reunion?

It’s been a while, but memories of a great night in our beloved bar float by every once in a while. That great night was, of course, the Alumni Reunion on the 30th of September last autumn. Some of you immortalized yourselves on the posters of all year groups that were hanging at the stairs. Find out who you missed at the Reunion!
