Happy New Year Party!

And once again, the Bar was the place to be, this time at New Year’s. With UCAA providing a free keg of beer, a few enthusiastic alumni organized a party for both students and alumni to enjoy. About 60 alumni and a couple more students partied towards the new year. Old friends bumped into each other, and new friendships were made. Thanks to Boaz Zaionce (’08) and Jeroen Burgers (’07) for their enthusiastic support!

Bottles and crisps… Pub Quiz 2010!

Saturday the 11th of December our beloved campus Bar filled itself with alumni once again… for Pub Quiz! About 50 alumni joined in teams with funny and weird names, picking their brains on the – sometimes tricky – questions hosted by the amazing trio of Hans, Karel and Casper. UCAA’s free beer keg saw its bottom soon enough, and the atmosphere was great with so many old friends together. Towards the end it got really exciting as two teams were neck-on-neck on the scores, where in the end Zoeligical won the bottle of Jack Daniels! Congratulations to the team members: Hinze Hoogendoorn (’04), Marjolein, Kiran Coleman (’05), Claire Stramrood (’03), and Zuzanna van Iersel (’04). As usual bags of crisps got thrown around and many stayed to party till the late hours…

London Drink @ George IV

On Tuesday the 30th of November, our London representative Julia Richter (’09) organized a well-visited drink in the LSE Campus bar George IV. About 25 alumni residing in England’s capital city came around to enjoy a drink and catch up with each other.

UCAA Newsletter November 2010

Dear alumni,

Pub Quiz
It’s that time of year again to get ready for the Pub Quiz! This year’s pub quiz will take place on Saturday the 11th of December starting at 20.30h in our beloved UC campus bar and, like in previous years, the amazing team of Hans, Casper and Karel will provide the questions and take on hosting duties. So come join us for an evening of fun trivia, seeing old friends and partying afterwards. To sign up send an e-mail with your team name and members (max. 6 persons) to info@ucaa.nl. The first keg of beer will be on the UCAA!

Board vacancy
Unfortunately, the pub quiz will also mark one of the last events organized by our lovely events coordinator Catherine Endtz, as she’ll soon be resigning her position. That does however mean that if you’re an enthusiastic alumnus or alumna and interested in joining  our board, we welcome you to apply for the position. Your time investment would consist of a few hours a week (partly paid) and attending monthly meetings. To find out more about the position and how to apply go to: www.ucaa.nl/vacancies. The deadline for application is Friday, December 3rd.

Input QuaQuaVersal
As every year, we’re also looking for alumni with an interesting occupation, hobby or story to tell that would like to share their experiences with their fellow alumni in the QuaQuaVersal, our annual alumni magazine. If you are such a person and would be interested in getting your writing, photographs, poems, artwork, etc. published, get in contact with us at qqv@ucaa.nl.

UCU Open Day
On the 26th and 27th of November UCU will be having its Open Days for prospective new students. There will also be a stand dedicated to ‘life after UC’ that could still use some enthusiastic alumni volunteers to help man the stand for a part of either of those days. If interested, please send an e-mail to info@ucaa.nl.

Sincerely yours,

The UCAA Board

UCAA Newsletter September 2010

Dear alumni,

As most of you are returning to your jobs or colleges after the summer holidays, the UCAA has also switched back into full gear, working hard to bring you a new academic year filled with fun and stimulating events.

Keeping with the last newsletter’s theme of changes within the UCAA, you may have noticed the new design of the newsletter you’re reading. We hope it’s to your liking and readable in all different e-mail programs (if not you can always click the online version).

Another change we are very happy to announce is that Sarah Carmichael (class of ’06) has joined the UCAA Board as your new treasurer. Though we are sad to say goodbye to Mark Ruitenbeek (class of ’07) and the excellent work he’s done for the Board and Career Conference these past years, we are glad to have found such a great replacement in Sarah and are excited to be working with her.

Lastly, as you may have noticed, we sent our annual alumni magazine, the Quaquaversal, out to the addresses you have listed on UCUniverse.com. If, for some reason, you did not receive this year’s magazine, please check whether your listed address is still correct (and change it if it’s not), send us an e-mail at info@ucaa.nl and we’ll make sure you still get a copy.

 Sincerely yours,

The UCAA Board
